Guided Lab: How to Launch Azure AI Content Safety

Description

Azure AI Content Safety is a cloud service that helps detect and moderate harmful or unsafe content in text and images. It classifies inputs such as hate, self-harm, sexual, and violence, and assigns severity levels. This service is widely used to keep applications like chatbots, forums, and AI-powered platforms safe from harmful content.

Objectives

In this lab, you will:

  • Learn how to provision an Azure AI Content Safety resource in the Azure portal.
  • Configure basic settings such as resource group, region, and name.
  • Explore the configuration options for networking, identity, and tags.
  • Verify the deployment to confirm the resource was created.

Lab Steps

Creating the Azure AI Content Safety Resource

1. Navigate to Azure AI Content Safety by clicking the service from the homepage or searching in the portal search bar.

2. Start creating a Content Safety resource by clicking Create → Azure AI Content Safety at the top bar or clicking the Create button at the center of the page.

Configuring the Resource

1. On the Basics tab, select the following configurations:

a. Resource group: azure-lab-rg-EQJeAQgZXQFZ
b. Region: (US) Central US
c. Pricing: Free F0 or Standard S0

2. Go to the Network tab. Choose All networks to allow access from the internet and all networks.

3. Go to the Identity tab. By default, the System-assigned managed identity option is set to Off.

4. Go to the Tags tab. Tags are name/value pairs that help categorize resources and consolidate billing.

  • Enter a Name and a corresponding Value to organize your resources.

Note that if you create tags and then change resource settings on other tabs, the tags will be updated automatically.

5. Once done, click the Review + create button at the bottom.

Finalize and Deploy the Content Safety

1. Wait for the “Validation passed” message, then review if all configurations are correct. Once done, click Create.

a. If validation fails, an X marks the issue (for example, a missing value or an incorrect setting). Review your previous inputs, correct the highlighted fields, and rerun validation until it passes.

2. Once successful deployment, click Go to resource to open the Content Safety instance you created.

Congratulations! You have completed the Guided Lab on creating an Azure AI Content Safety. This exercise taught you how to deploy the service in the Azure portal, configure resource settings (Basics, Network, Identity, Tags), validate and create the resource, and deploy Content Safety in the Azure portal. This accomplishment is foundational in developing your Azure computing skills and preparing you for more advanced cloud solutions.
