Given the statement “A has a stronger correlation with F than P” are we comparing correlation of A-F to correlation of A-P, or are we comparing correlation of A-F to F-P?

I interpreted the statement as comparing A-F to A-P and when I asked colleagues they also read it this way. However, given this answer was incorrect then I assume we’re meant to compare A-F to F-P.
