AZ-104 Incorrect Answer/Multiple correct Answer
-
Hi Team,
For Az-104 Review Mode Set 2, Question 25. The provided explanation is wrong. Both NIC and VM Size upgrade can cause downtime.
Here its written that we wont be able to detach NIC on a running VM(Which is true) But the question is misleading.
In the question its mentioned that the planned maintanence activity will happen for the below tasks(hence its unavoidable) so the answer must include both options.

Hi udemylearneragkaya aya,
Thank you for posting and bringing up your concerns about this question.
Some changes to your virtual machine may cause downtime. For example:
- Changing the VM size or detaching a network interface requires the VM to be stopped and restarted (or deallocated), which will result in temporary downtime.
- On the other hand, actions like creating and attaching a new disk, moving the VM to a new resource group, or adding a Desired State Configuration (DSC) extension can be completed without any downtime.
We’re also working on updating the portal soon to reflect these details in alignment with Azure’s latest documentation.
I hope this clarifies things! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions or need further assistance.
Cheers,

Hi Irene,
My question is that Detaching NIC also causes downtime since we need to shutdown VM before doing it?-
Hi udemylearneragkaya aya,
You’re right—detaching a network interface (NIC) does cause downtime, as the VM must be deallocated before this operation can be performed. This means the VM will be temporarily stopped during the detachment process.
I hope this helps clarify things!
