Az-104 Practice Exam 4 – Review Mode – Question 2
-
The documentation states that only Azure Databases Running in SQL Server on a VM can be backed up to an RSV. The answer in the screenshot I provided is at best misleading, at worst it is incorrect. It says Azure SQL Databases can be backed up also. To me this indicated that you mean Azure Managed PaaS databases.
Also, the answer states: “After you deleted the lock and backup data, you can now delete the TD-Cebu resource group”. However, there is still a lock on the VM and the Vnet. Are you saying that you can delete the resource group with out removing those locks?
I’m finding multiple issues like this in the practice exams. I need to be able to trust that the answers and explanations are correct, otherwise what is the point of even using these practice exams? I’m getting quite annoyed with having to stop my exam prep to stop and double check answers that don’t seem correct.

Hi Tyler,
Thank you for posting your question. For your first question, please take note that the part of the explanation that you highlighted is actually referenced from the official Microsoft Azure documentation:
You can use Recovery Services vaults to hold backup data for various Azure services such as IaaS VMs (Linux or Windows) and Azure SQL databases. Recovery Services Vaults support System Center DPM, Windows Server, Azure Backup Server, and more.
Reference:
The 2nd one is also supported by the official Azure documentation here:

Thank you for your response. Regarding my first question, above the section that you highlighted in the Microsoft documentation, it lists “SQL Server databases running on Azure VMs (Iaas)”, below in the section that you highlighted it says “Azure SQL databases”. Does this mean that both SQL Server databases running on Azure VMs and PaaS Azure Managed SQL Databases are both supported for backup to RSV? Or only “SQL Server databases running on Azure VMs”? This is where my confusion lies.
