I have just come up against the following question in the DevOps Pro exam:

Category: DOP – Resilient Cloud Solutions

A telecommunications company has a web portal that requires a cross-region failover. The portal stores its data in an Amazon Aurora database in the primary region (us-west-1) and the Parallel Query feature is also enabled in the database to optimize some of the I/O and computation involved in processing data-intensive queries. The portal uses Amazon Route 53 to direct customer traffic to the active region.

Which among the options below should be taken to MINIMIZE downtime of the portal in the event that the primary database fails?

    Two issues with this:

    – One of the answers mentions Aurora multi-master. This service is deprecated.

    – After I chose this answer incorrectly, I was told, “You should use the Amazon Aurora Global Database instead.” While I don’t disagree with this, none of the 4 answers mentions “Amazon Aurora Global Database”

    Hi DamoJ,

Thank you for flagging this. You are absolutely right on both points.

We have reviewed the question and confirmed that the answer option referencing Aurora Multi-Master is outdated, as the service was deprecated by AWS on February 28, 2023. We have also identified the inconsistency between the post-answer explanation recommending Aurora Global Database and the actual answer choices provided.

The question has been updated to address both issues and is currently under review. The changes will be reflected on the portal soon.

We appreciate your diligence in helping us keep our content accurate and up to date. If you come across anything else, please do not hesitate to let us know.

    Best regards,

    Irene @ Tutorials Dojo
