License Manager: upload possible?

Hi,
I’m reviewing my wrong answer about migration of IBM WebSphere/DB2/MQ (“A company has a suite of IBM products in its on-premise data centers,…”).
Unfortunately I can’t find the question anymore in the recorded results.
In my notes I have written down:
You can’t upload licenses in AWS License manager. That’s one of the reason why one of the possible answer is wrong.
Can you please approve my notes (as googling didn’t answer this clearly):
In AWS License Manager I’m not able to upload licenses.
Thank’s!

Hello ch34,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your notes! You are almost correct in your understanding. In the context of the original question, the option mentioned “uploading IBM licenses to AWS License Manager,” which is not entirely accurate. AWS License Manager does not allow you to upload actual license files, such as license keys or certificates. Instead, it lets you define license configurations for tracking and managing your BYOL (Bring Your Own License) usage. This means you can specify licensing terms (like number of cores or vCPUs) and apply these rules to your AWS resources, but the system does not handle uploading license files. So, your note that you “can’t upload licenses into AWS License Manager” is essentially correct. Still, it’s clearer to say that while AWS License Manager allows you to define configurations for BYOL tracking, it does not permit uploading the actual license files. This distinction is key to understanding why that answer option in the question was incorrect.
Hope this helps!
