Phrasing of the Question is misleading

Under Category: ANS – Network Management and Operation
A company needs to set up a dedicated AWS Direct Connect network connection between its on-premises data center and AWS Storage Gateway to support its web application’s high-throughput workloads processing thousands of financial files. The application is running in a Kubernetes cluster and is hosted in an Amazon VPC. An Amazon S3 File Gateway is used by the cluster to access the data via NFS-based file protocol with local caching.
The Network Engineer must also ensure that the data from the corporate data center to the AWS Direct Connect location is encrypted for data integrity and data origin authenticity.
The question in the First review mode test (Review Mode Diagnostic Test) in the.. The phrasing is off. The question doesn’t reflect about the storage gateway appliance which is hosted on on-prem (As it is reflected in the architecture in the detailed answer).. Because it should provide some context why a Public VIF is needed to connect to the Amazon File Gateway.
Also, keep it consistent I see AWS Storage Gateway and Amazon S3 File Gateway.

Hello saig1991.
The question already specifies that the company is connecting its on‑premises data center to AWS Storage Gateway, which implicitly covers the fact that the File Gateway appliance is deployed on‑premises. This context explains why a Public VIF is required because the File Gateway must reach Amazon S3 endpoints.
Regarding terminology, both “AWS Storage Gateway” and “Amazon S3 File Gateway” are correct. AWS Storage Gateway is the broader service family, while Amazon S3 File Gateway is the specific gateway type used in this scenario. The phrasing intentionally uses both to reflect the hierarchy of the service and its appliance type.
