The question is INCORRECTLY stating that the software on the EC2 instances must be preserved. The software stack on the VMS must be preserved. The answer correctly uses VM/IMPORT EXPORT which will result in BRAND NEW Ec2 Instances which is creating the confusion (“does the question mean we need to somehow copy the software from VMs into existing EC2 instances?”)

This was also confirmed in a reddit post

A company operates an on-premises VMware vSphere environment and is now mandated to move certain applications to Amazon EC2 instances. <b style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>Any software stacks and configurations installed on the EC2 instances must be preserved.

Which set of actions will meet the requirements?

    Hello SalientListener,

Thank you for your patience and feedback. I apologize for the confusion caused by the wording of the question. The intention was to ensure that the software stack and configurations on the virtual machines are preserved when moving to Amazon EC2 instances. We will make the necessary updates regarding this matter.

Thank you for helping to improve the quality of our practice questions. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
