Just to clarify, are you referring to the official AWS certification? If so, passing the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional exam will only renew your Associate-level certification if it is still active and has not yet expired.

If your AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification has already expired, it will not be automatically renewed, and you will need to retake the Associate exam to regain it.
