You are absolutely correct. The original explanation stating that “Amazon EFS can only transition a file to the IA storage class after 90 days” was inaccurate. That figure actually refers to the default transition period for the EFS Archive storage class, not the IA storage class. As your screenshot confirms, the default transition into IA is 30 days since last access, and it can be configured as low as 1 day.
We’ve updated the explanation to reflect the correct information. The maximum transition period for EFS lifecycle policies is 365 days. Since the requirement is to move files older than 2 years (730 days), EFS still cannot meet this requirement even at its maximum configuration, which is why the option remains incorrect, just for the right reason.
