Thanks for posting here. I can confirm with you that the tests in timed mode can always be paused and saved, to be finished at a later time. We have conducted several tests on this and it’s also documented in our Timed Mode FAQ:

If you tried to resume a test and it did not save everything that you previously answered, the most likely cause is that you have lost the session at any point during the test. This usually happens when you lose Internet connection or if the screen was left unattended for a prolonged period of time.
For succeeding attempts, we do recommend closing other tabs, sitting through the test without leaving the screen for a prolonged time, and ensuring that you don’t lose Internet connection during the duration of the test.
