Under the Monitor and Maintain Azure Resources section is the question:
You created an alert rule and configured an action group with the notification type Email Azure Resource Manager Role, which sends an email to the Monitoring Reader role.
The Monitoring Reader role is assigned to the user, service principal and group.
Which of the following identities will receive an email notification?
The explanation says that TDU3 will receive the notification because they have the Monitoring Reader Role, but the question does actually say that’s the case.

Thanks for bringing up the question.
In this scenario, when you use the notification type “Email Azure Resource Manager role”, you can send an email to the subscription members, based on their role and a notification email is sent only to the primary email address configured for the Azure AD user. But the email is only sent to Azure AD user members of the selected role, not to Azure AD groups or service principals.
Since the other type of identities are member of AD groups and are service principal. Therefore, TDU3 who is not a member of any AD group will receive an email notification.

I understand that the email is only sent to members of the selected role. My issue is that the question doesn’t actually say the TDU3 *is* a member of that role.

In the third statement: “The Monitoring Reader role is assigned to the user, service principal, and group.” this means that it has been assigned to all types of identities in the given table (TDU1 – 3 & TDSP1 – 2).
